Aspen & Frye "found us" at the animal shelter in Aspen, Colorado in 1993.
They were two, tiny ten-week old siblings from an aristocratic German Shepherd mom and her (oops) Black Lab gentleman caller. Who could resist these babies?

Aspen's name is pretty obvious, and Frye, for the Frying Pan River.

Aspen's philosophy is "one can never be too rich, too thin, or have too many squeaky-teddies." She is never too far from Ed, usually with a paw or her chin resting on his foot.

Frye is an "in the moment" kind of guy and believes you can never have too many family walks. He also feels strongly about dental hygiene and believes one should have a rawhide chew "cigar" every night after dinner. His signature "one ear up and one ear down" is a real chick magnet.

In the past few years the historic Hotel Jerome in Aspen has begun to allow dogs to stay in the rooms with you. So, these little "pound puppies" now stroll through the lobby of this world-class luxurious hotel with all the other stars in Aspen!

We lost our "big boy" after 12 1/2 fabulous years.
It took a long time, but in the fall of 2006 Ed, Lynda and Aspen welcomed "the twins" - German Shepherd brother and sister. Hidalgo and Ruffian (names are from race horses) are happy, healthy and (we think) the smartest, best-looking Shepherds ever!
